The chin augmentation is a hit overseas, according to research by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released this April 16: About 21,000 Americans have been implanted with the lower face in 2011. Between 2010 and 2011, this procedure has increased by 71%-more than the increase in Botox injections, liposuction and increases in the chest together.
The breast implant surgery remains the most popular operation, just before the nose surgery.
"The chin and lower face are the first witnesses of aging. People consider implants as a way to look younger, just like a facelift or eyelid surgery," said Dr. Malcolm Z. Roth, president of the ASPS. "We also know that people are more confronted with their image with the technology of video chat, and they note down their face is not as strong as before. Chin implants can make a dramatic difference" he concludes.
