2013 Rimac Concept One Propulsion System



The Rimac Concept One features a unique electric propulsion system called �All Wheel Torque Vectoring (AWTV)�, which is divided into a front and a rear sub-system, each containing two symmetrical motor-controller-reduction-gearbox units.


The systems are controlled through sophisticated ECUs (Electronic Control Units) that take inputs from sensors placed all over the car. These systems drive each wheel independently from the others, and can adjust the transferred power and torque up to thousands of times per second.

The drivetrain delivers a total of 1,088 hp and 3,800 Nm of torque which allow the Concept One to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds and to reach a top speed of 305 km/h. The extensive use of carbon fiber allowed to achieve a total weight of 1,650 kg, which includes the large 92 kwh batteries that allow a range of 600 km. The Rimac says that a limited run of 88 units is in planning with deliveries starting in 2013.
