Prepare your hair for a relaxer
Want to learn how to prepare your hair for chemical straightening? This article will teach you four steps which strategy to adopt to protect your hair just before straightening!
We must start with the obvious: the chemical straightening process is very stressful on the hair. Due to the aggressive nature of these chemicals and extreme consequences that can result from improper use, be careful and take into account the preparation of hair in the process.
Preparation of hair:
First and foremost, always with a straighten hair healthy. Many of us say, "Oh, my hair break off or fall ... I'll straighten! . But you must understand that you are taking a huge gamble with the health of your hair by following the application of chemical relaxer on hair type compromised (devitalized hair, dry or brittle, ...).
It should never straighten your hair to "solve" a problem. You will have to fix the problem with the right treatment. If your problem is hair breakage, you must determine the cause and treat your hair accordingly. You simply need to increase the moisture of your hair if your case is due to overconsumption of protein, and in the opposite case increase protein, if your case is the result of too much packaging. If your problem is hair loss, you must be patient and let nature do what she must do first. Some have had success with treatment with garlic shampoo, but keep in mind that hair loss is a response to nature, to process hormonal treatments against falling may not work.
Only when your hair and scalp are back to normal, you can make your hair straightening. Straightening your hair will only aggravate the problem you are facing in making your hair weaker and more vulnerable to damage. These harsh chemicals can cause more breakage, the fall, baldness permanently if the straightening is done to solve another problem. I can not stress this enough ladies, straightening should never be used as a means of correcting hair problems. You must solve the problems of falling, drought or broken BEFORE you straighten your hair.
Your 4 Steps Pre straightening
Preparing your hair for straightening is one of the best things you can do for the health of your hair. You can follow these strategies before and after straightening if you straighten yourself or you go your stylist. Make sure that your hair is in good physical condition before straightening will give you better results at the end.
Step 1: Clean it Up!
Your shampoo final scheduled for 3-5 days before your relaxing. To wash (especially if you want a very smooth result), you should use a clarifying shampoo to remove any buildup of deposits on hair products. Clarifiying a shampoo or a stripping shampoo containing the detergent sodium lauryl / laureth sulfate or ammonium lauryl / laureth sulfate is strong enough to remove build and maintain a clean hair. Assuming you are using or not a minimum of heavy products, I highly recommend Pantene Pro-V Shampoo Purity for clarity. If you do not want to have a smooth law and prefer to keep a little texture, you can still use your products in their usual ratios straightening up.
Step 2: Strengthen your hair!
You should treat your hair with protein treatment during the final before straightening shampoo. Then you have to follow this treatment with a deep conditioning moisturizer. Give your hair a protein treatment the days before your relaxer gives your hair a little more protein to accompany straightening. This prevents the straightening process of completely compromising the strength of your hair when your hair's inner structure made of proteins is manipulated. To determine how strong protein treatment to use, I would first make an assessment of hair breakage. If your hair breaks already, I would go with a moderate to strong for the treatment of damaged hair. I recommend Aphogee Treatment for damaged hair for an intense conditioning protein. If you do not have a significant break, then a treatment light / mild treatment would be perfect. I recommend Aphogee 2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor or Motions CPR Conditioner for conditioning light protein. You can use any other brand of reconstructor / protein conditioner that works for you. Do not proceed with the application of the relaxer if you have any significant failure or breakage. After completing steps 1 and 2, do not wash your hair, scratch, or anything that might disturb your scalp.
Step 3: Protect!
Day straightening, pay special attention to the length and ends of your hair. Fine hair is especially vulnerable to damage from the straightening process unless they are protected. Apply a thin layer of something like olive oil, castor oil, a thick conditioner, grease or Vaseline on your scalp and hair regrowth beyond, to prevent the rest of your hair to be straightened again a second time during straightening and during washing. Protecting lengths and ends is essential because the nature of short and compact regrowth is almost impossible to avoid duplication. The application of this chemical and the lack of protection for the structure and the points is one of many reasons why hair uncurled some ladies is thin or have thin spikes.
Remember also that the lubrication of regrowth can spoil your straightening because it will be difficult to penetrate through the layers that you put. If you want a perfectly smooth result, make sure you have not covered your volunteer fat, you should cover your scalp and hair straightened already beyond the regrowth. As always, apply a base coat (Vaseline, oil, grease) to your scalp, tops of ears and other sensitive areas. The database will give you an extra layer of protection between the straightener and these areas.
Step 4: Make a test!
Perform a test on a bit before applying the relaxer on the whole head (or even coloring products), even if you've used the product in question. Our bodies change and so does our tolerance and even allergies to certain products. Also, it is not uncommon for manufacturers to modify the formulas over the years. A chemical that has worked well for years suddenly you can not give you the desired effect when used. Perform a test on a lock you can always know where you stand.
