With a new breed of compact sedans, Motor Trend decided it was time to make an exhaustive comparison to determine the king of the compact four-door.
For the above selected the Japanese Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Mazda3, which sales totaled 700,000 units last year, with the powerful U.S. artillery composed of the Ford Focus and Chevrolet Cruze.
Korea threatens to Forte Kia and Hyundai Elantra, while the only exemplary German segment is the Volkswagen Jetta, which was present in the TDI diesel version.
Motor Trend tried to make a comparison as fair as possible in terms of cars, all of which had automatic transmission as standard equipment, alloy wheels, stability control and a price closer to $ 20.000.
What was the winner? Thanks to its radical style, lots of standard equipment and sophistication in general, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra was the winner. The second place was the most tasteless Honda Civic 2012, while third place went to the Mazda3. In fourth place was the VW Jetta TDI, followed by the Ford Focus Titanium 2012 and LTZ Chevrolet Cruze RS. The last places went to the Kia Forte EX 2011 and 2011 Toyota Corolla in seventh place.
