Porsche Boxster Spyder (2011)

The mid-engine concept consistent. The unique lightweight construction. The extraordinary agility. The precision handling. The driving experience without compromise. Granted, none of this is new to Porsche.

Since the early sixties with the 718 RS 60 Spyder, the successor to the legendary 550 Spyder, Porsche created a roadster that wrote the history of motorsport exactly these traits of character. Both races mountain and road.
So, keep the Spyder name synonymous with the essence of a roadster is a matter of mere consistency. Like still refer to old values. Purism, for example. A waiver of the modern comforts for the sake of sportsmanship.
Driving a Boxster Spyder is not, in fact, any decision. It is rather a recognition. A unconditional fun behind the wheel. To appreciate why roadster enthusiasts: a dynamic that feels and looks.
The demands raised our designers themselves were, as always, extremely high. The goal: to convey an unmistakable message from the first moment. Externalize what awaits the driver, strict authenticity. Controllable forces with absolute precision. Pure indulgence.
How?  With a principle that extends throughout history Porsche Lightweight design consistent. Or rather, smart features. Leaving aside the superfluous, perhaps even aspects that has taken a liking, as alleged understatement.
But precisely why making an immanent effect. A real surprise, even for fans: the original sense of the roadster.
Boxster Spyder In this sense arises from a distinctive sporty design. A set of forms that typically Porsche, goes his own way.
Singularly striking examples: the awning is to replace the power top. At the rear dominated by two prominent and dynamic protrusions.
Seem almost two powerful muscle mass. With the top down, are the aesthetic extension of the roll hoops in black enamel. "Playing with shapes, then? Quite the contrary. Add more strictly to a design purist sense only if it also meant better performance. The result: an improved aerodynamics at the open-air driving.
